PresidentJohn Ferrie is a company officer of the General Electric Company, with responsibility as president for Aviation Systems, a $2.5billion turnover business employing 10,000 people.
GE purchased Smiths Aerospace in May 2007 up to which date he was a main board director of Smiths Group plc.
Prior to joining Smiths in 2000 as president and CEO, John spent 35 years with Rolls-Royce plc., where he held a number of senior executive positions.
Awarded the CBE in the Queen’s birthday honours in 2004, John is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. He is an Industrial Professor at the University of Warwick, a member of the University of Warwick Faculty of Science Advisory Board, a member of the Cranfield Aerospace Advisory Board, a member of the SBAC Council and Chairman of the ASD Equipment & SME Commission.
John is a private pilot who enjoys hill walking, music and golf.
