President Michael N. Chanatry is president of GE’s Aviation Systems Product Solutions business headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio. GE’s Aviation Systems unit, (formerly Smiths Aerospace), with annual revenues of $2.5B, was acquired by GE Aviation ($16B revenues) in 2007.
GE Aviation is a world leading producer of large and small jet engines as well as integrated systems and product solutions for commercial and military aircraft. GE also supplies aircraft-derived engines for marine and industrial applications. The Product Solutions business that Mike leads produces avionics, power products, landing gears, actuation systems, propellers, aerostructures and many other special engineered products. Mike has more than 25 years of experience covering sourcing, plant operations and business P&L leadership assignments in the aerospace industry.
Prior to Mike's appointment to a president’s role with the Aviation Systems business, he served as general manager, Global Sourcing, managing sites around the world with an annual procurement buy of $9 billion in support of GE Aviation. Prior to that, he was executive vice president and general manager of Middle River Aircraft Systems (MRAS), a $450 million GE affiliate business located in Baltimore, Md. MRAS designs and produces nacelles, thrust reversers and complex aerostructure parts for military and commercial applications.
Mike began his career with GE’s Aerospace Electronics Division in Utica, N.Y., in 1983 as a procurement agent. He worked his way up through the sourcing chain in various key assignments from 1987 through 1992 and was instrumental in developing the consolidated procurement centers that are utilized today by Lockheed Martin’s Electronic System’s Division (formerly GE Aerospace). Prior to joining GE Aerospace in 1983, Mike served as the commissioner of finance for Oneida County Offices of New York, where he worked for the Honorable Congressman Sherwood Boehlert.
Mike graduated from Niagara University in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in business management and later attended Utica College of Syracuse University, where he received certification as a member of the American Management Association in 1987.
Mike lives in Mason, Ohio with his wife and four children.
