Cessna selects Smiths to supply Citation CJ310 September 200210 September 2002 - Orlando, FL - Smiths Aerospace has been selected by Cessna Aircraft Company to supply the hydraulic actuation and display systems for the new Citation CJ3. This selection provides Smiths Aerospace with the opportunity for generating more than $20 million in sales throughout the program. Initial deliveries will commence in 2004 with full production beginning in 2006. The actuation system will be designed and manufactured at the Smiths Aerospace facility in Washington State and the display system at the Cheltenham UK facility. The actuation system incorporates Smiths advanced and proprietary locking actuator technology.The system will provide the CJ3 with landing gear and flight control hydraulic actuators, which extend and retract the main and nose landing gear, speed brakes and flaps.The electronic horizontal situation indicator (EHSI) will provide the aircraft's navigation data on a single full color 3ATI active matrix liquid crystal display.The unit is a derivative of a new family of indicators capable of operating in the highly agile and rigorous conditions that combat aircraft operate within.
