Greek Type Approval for Kelvin Hughes Voyage Data Recorder22 August 2002Greek Type Approval for Kelvin Hughes Voyage Data Recorder22 August 2002 - Hainault, UK - Kelvin Hughes Limited, part of Smiths Aerospace - Marine Systems, has received full type approval by the Hellenic Ships Inspectorate of the Department of the Ministry of Merchant Marine for their NDR 2002 voyage data recorder (VDR) system. This additional type approval on top of those from Qinetiq in Europe and the Maritime Register of Shipping - Morsviazsputnik in Russia will enable Kelvin Hughes to offer their VDR to the worldwide market. The Greek type approval came after a successful Posidonia show during which Georgios Anomeritis, Greek Shipping Minister spent time during his visit to the show to view the Kelvin Hughes VDR on the stand of their agent, Marel Electronics SA. The NDR 2002 VDR from Kelvin Hughes has the smallest Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) on the market that can be fitted unobtrusively on any ship. This combined with a selection of Crash Survival Modules (CSM) and a removable white box that records data for post-voyage analysis makes the Kelvin Hughes Voyage Data Recorder an adaptable piece of essential equipment. This year Kelvin Hughes has sold more than 50 VDRs and is fitting systems in worldwide locations including Japan, China, Korea, Australia and the Baltic.
