Smiths Heimann awarded Enhanced X-ray Screening Systems

29 April 2003

The Threat Image Projection technology included in the X-Ray screening systems projects fictitious images of security-breaching objects, such as weapons or dangerous items, on screen and blends them at random into the images of the luggage or cargo being screened.  This technology aids security personnel training, as it enables the assessment of the operators' reactions, which are recorded for further evaluation. Customers are thus able to train, test and monitor the security screeners' performance credit to the implementation of TRX systems.

About Smiths:

Smiths Heimann and Smiths Detection form the detection and security systems of Smiths Aerospace. They are both world leaders in their markets - with the former being focused on X-Ray security systems to detect illegal or hazardous items and explosives and the latter focusing on trace detection equipment for chemical and biological agents, explosives and narcotics.  Smiths Aerospace, part of the Smiths Group plc, is the leading transatlantic aerospace equipment company, with its 12.000 staff and $2billion revenues split equally between Europe and North America
