Smiths Aerospace & Naverus Collaborate to Improve Navigational Data Integrity

4 October 2004

New versions of navigation databases are released every 28 days as part of the aviation industry's standard AIRAC cycle. Each release contains numerous changes to the navigation database with a wide range of impact on flight operations. The Naverus change monitoring services help a flight operations group identify, evaluate, and prioritize resolution of those changes.

Smiths has suspended development of an earlier tool, known as NDBIT. Naverus will develop and market tools and services that extend NDBIT concepts and support the Smiths Flight Management System. Naverus is currently testing its tool for the FMS used on the Boeing 737-300 through 737-900 with customers WestJet, Qantas and Continental Airlines. The company will announce pricing and additional details, including support for other providers' flight management systems, by the end of the year.
