Smiths Aerospace appoints Actuation Systems and Landing Gear business leaders

Barry Gillespie is named president of the company's actuation systems business. Mr. Gillespie will lead an integrated actuation systems business including flight controls, landing gear & hydraulic systems, engine systems and electro-mechanical systems. The consolidation of these systems allows Smiths to provide Tier 1 integrated actuation systems and provide a greater value to customers and their supply chain. Before joining Smiths, Barry was vice president of global operations for Eaton Corporation's hydraulics business and held a number of senior positions with Allied Signal Aerospace. Barry earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from San Francisco State University. He will be located at Smiths' facility in Santa Ana, California.

Rick Berg is appointed president of the company's landing gear business and will be based at Smiths' facility in Santa Ana. Rick was previously president of Smiths' engine systems business in Duarte, California and has been with Smiths since 1995. Before joining Smiths, he was president and general manager, at Jetway Systems. Rick earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Illinois.

Both individuals report to Michael Steel, president of the mechanical business for Smiths Aerospace.
