Smiths and Isothermal Systems Research Sign Joint Development Agreement27 September 2005Grand Rapids, MI and Liberty Lake, WA- Isothermal Systems Research (ISR) and Smiths Aerospace announced today the formation of a strategic alliance to position both companies to capture next generation airborne electronics. Smiths' industry leading electronics coupled with ISR's SprayCool technology means Smiths is taking aggressive steps to provide customers with even greater performance avionics that can only be enabled by the most modern thermal management solutions. Commenting on the teaming agreement, Glenn Good, vice president, flight and vehicle systems, Smiths Aerospace said, "The agreement marks the start of a new relationship that promises to position us to provide the most compelling and comprehensive solutions to our customers. We have been working with ISR for more than a year, and we're looking forward to continuing a long and successful relationship with them." Avionics customers demand higher performance computing systems using more power in smaller volumes. This creates increased heat build-up which affects reliability and eventually failure. Smiths has recognized this trend and the SprayCool Technology provides a unique heat-dissipation solution for the next generation of avionics products, resulting in a sharp competitive edge. Roger Powers, vice president business development for ISR said, "We are very excited about the opportunity to work with such a recognized leader as Smiths Aerospace. Their commitment further illustrates industry's adoption of our enabling products." The two companies are targeting a number of products and programs in both the military and commercial markets. Their first jointly developed solution is expected to be completed by mid 2006. ISR, the manufacturer of SprayCool products, is a leading provider of high performance electronic system cooling and packaging solutions for the military, electronic test equipment, computing and telecom markets. With the revolutionary evaporative cooling solutions they are fundamentally changing the way electronics are cooled, packaged and powered. SprayCool products are meeting and exceeding the technical challenges associated with cooling and environmental obstacles while satisfying cost and time to market requirements in both the commercial and defense markets. Founded in 1988, ISR is a privately held corporation located in Liberty Lake, WA. www.spraycool.com Smiths Aerospace is a leading transatlantic aerospace equipment and systems company, with more than 10,000 employees and $2 billion sales worldwide. Smiths Aerospace, a part of Smiths Group plc, holds key positions in the supply chains of all major military and civil aircraft, helicopter and engine manufacturers and is a world-leader in digital, electrical power and mechanical systems, engine components and Systems Customer Services. www.geaviationsystems.com |
