Smiths Aerospace Components - Poland signs $50M agreement with WSK Rzeszow

Smiths' engine components business grows in Poland

17 July 2006 – Farnborough , UK - Smiths Aerospace, a leading supplier to the aerospace industry in Poland , announces a new 10-year agreement with WSK Rzeszow worth $50M. The agreement includes more than 60 engine components for a variety of current and new business aircraft engines. The development phase will be complete in 2006 with full production commencing in 2007. Smiths currently employs 130 people at its facility in Poland , Dzierzoniow. This win creates an opportunity for an additional 60 new positions.

“Since Smiths' acquired the business in 2004, Smiths Aerospace Components - Poland has grown to become a leading supplier of complex machined engine components. We continue to respond to our customers and expand our business in global economies,” commented Dr. John Ferrie , President, Smiths Aerospace. “We intend to significantly increase sales from our business in Poland over the next 10 years and take advantage from operating in one of the fastest developing regions for Aerospace activity in the world.”

WSK Rzeszow is a part of United Technologies Corporation and is a first tier supplier to its subsidiary, Pratt & Whitney Canada . The PW610 engine is installed on the Eclipse and the PW615 is installed on Cessna's Mustang. Both aircraft are 6-seat small business jets for which market projections range from several hundred to more than 1,000 per year. Smiths Aerospace Components in Poland provides world-leading aerospace machining technology and is a comprehensive manufacturing facility that supplies a range of fully finished complex components including coated and uncoated shroud segments, landing gear parts, rings and housings for direct OEM or sub-tier program supply on a global basis.
