Smiths' engine components business grows in Poland

17 July 2006 – Farnborough , UK - Smiths Aerospace, a leading supplier to the aerospace industry in Poland , announces a new 10-year agreement with WSK Rzeszow worth $50M. The agreement includes more than 60 engine components for a variety of current and new business aircraft engines. The development phase will be complete in 2006 with full production commencing in 2007. Smiths currently employs 130 people at its facility in Poland , Dzierzoniow. This win creates an opportunity for an additional 60 new positions.

WSK Rzeszow is a part of United Technologies Corporation and is a first tier supplier to its subsidiary, Pratt & Whitney Canada . The PW610 engine is installed on the Eclipse and the PW615 is installed on Cessna's Mustang. Both aircraft are 6-seat small business jets for which market projections range from several hundred to more than 1,000 per year.
