Smiths Aerospace supplies actuation subsystem for Canadian H-9217 July 2006 – Farnborough UK – Smiths Aerospace has been awarded a contract to supply the integrated blade fold and pin puller actuator subsystem for Canada's 28 new Sikorsky H-92 maritime helicopters, designated the CH148 Cyclone by the Canadian Forces. The three-year contract from Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation is worth more than $6M with first delivers scheduled for the third quarter 2007. This functionality allows the pilot to automatically stow or spread the Main Rotor Blades. There are four actuators and pin puller units per aircraft. The folding and locking functions are achieved through a common motor mechanically sequenced through the use of differential gearing. Canada 's Cyclone medium-lift helicopters will perform surface and subsurface surveillance and control, and utility operations that include search and rescue, passenger and cargo transfer, medical evacuations and tactical transport in support of national and international security.
