GE provides integrated systems for the V-22 Osprey worth $190m

14 July 2008 - Farnborough – GE-Aviation has been selected by Bell Boeing to supply integrated systems and equipment for a multi-year contract for 167 of the V-22 aircraft. This selection will cover 141 MV-22 Ospreys for the U.S. Marine Corps and 26 CV-22 Ospreys for the Air Force Special Operations Command. The content is valued at more than $190M over the next five years with deliveries commencing in 2009.

John Ferrie, President of GE’s Aviation Systems said, "This selection positions GE to be recognized as a Tier 1 supplier and partner with Bell Boeing for their past and future platforms. We are keen to deliver enhanced value through the development of systems architectures utilizing our key technologies".

The systems will be designed and developed at the GE facilities in Maryland, Michigan, Florida, California, Ohio, Illinois and New York as well as Cheltenham and Wolverhampton in the United Kingdom. The aircraft structures are supplied through GE’s Middle River Aircraft Systems who was named supplier of the year for Bell on the V-22. The systems content on the V-22 is valued at approximately $410M for the life of the program including the following:

Aircraft structures - MRAS Rudder servoactuators Forward cabin control station Ramp door control panel Optical blade trackers Hydraulic fluid monitor

Standby attitude indicator Main landing gear actuation Digital data set Fight information recorder Coaxial cables

Environmental control system valves Primary & secondary lighting control Nacelle Blowers

About V-22 Osprey - The Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey is now in operational service with the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command. The tilt-rotor aircraft takes off and lands like a helicopter. Once airborne, its engine nacelles can be rotated to convert the aircraft to a turboprop airplane capable of high-speed, high-altitude flight.
