GE to Supply Power Distribution and Actuation for Gulfstream G650

Untitled Document

July 14 2008 – FARNBOROUGH, U.K. – GE-Aviation today announced it will supply the secondary power distribution system and APU door actuation system for the new Gulfstream Aircraft Corporation G650 business jet. The contracts are potentially worth more than $100 million over the expected life of the program.

“GE’s new Modular Power Tile technology incorporates the latest generation of solid state power controllers. This system is a lighter weight design than other configurations and helps to improve the aircraft’s operation and maintenance economics,” said John Ferrie, President of GE’s Aviation Systems.

GE’s power distribution systems use modular, solid-state power tiles that support either distributed or federated systems with a highly scalable design. GE’s MPTs offer packaging and wiring architecture options that minimize installation weight and volume, while the system works to optimize the aircraft’s power configuration.

The G650’s secondary power distributed system architecture incorporates many aircraft utility functions allowing for the elimination of other aircraft system LRUs and resulting in an overall reduction of aircraft wiring. GE also provides the APU door actuation & controllers for the G650.

Gulfstream announced its plans for the G650 on March 13, 2008, and expects to begin G650 customer deliveries in 2012. According to Gulfstream, the first flight of the aircraft is scheduled for the second half of 2009.

GE currently supplies a number of products for the Gulfstream G450 and Gulfstream G500/550 business jets, including the APU door actuation system, fuel pumps and thrust reverser actuation systems.

GE-Aviation, an operating unit of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE), is a world-leading provider of jet engines and components as well as integrated systems and product solutions for commercial and military aircraft. GE Aviation has a global service network to support these offerings. For more information, visit us at www.ge.com/aviation.
