The EIDS is designed to replace electro-mechanical engine instruments fitted to C-130 and P-3 aircraft. A multi-processor, multi-channel architecture with proven LED display technology is used to provide an extremely safe and reliable system. The system reliability is over 20 times better than the existing indicators. Primary parameters are presented in a counter/pointer format and secondary parameters are presented in a digital readout format, minimising any re-training requirements. The LRUs feature comprehensive BIT, improved engine monitoring and lower weight (only 15.3lb per LRU). The compact design uses less panel space, releasing space for further cockpit upgrades.
