Military Flight Management System

The Military Flight Management System boasts unprecedented configuration flexibility with a truly open hardware and software architecture. The VME-based hardware configuration of the FMS mitigates obsolescence. The Motorola Power PC processor permits easy, inexpensive computer upgrades. VME hardware permits multiple circuit card suppliers to integrate features into the system. Open architecture and COTS-based construction reduces acquisition and upgrade costs through competitively selected VME cards.

Partitioned software ensures operational integrity and permits low cost software upgrades because changes within partitions do not affect other partitions. The FMS is configurable for commercial or military applications. With GATM ready software, aircraft can be configured for navigation into commercial airspace worldwide - with performance characteristics selected for optimal economy and/or arrival requirements. The same system can be configured with specialized tactical software to meet a broad range of military mission requirements. The power of the system lies within its capacity to be configured for a broad range of applications, to be GATM capable, and to remain current with technological advancements in both its hardware and software components.

  • Full Featured ARINC-702A Flight Management System software based on Smiths Industries Boeing-737 Flight Management System software

  • Tactical Mission interface for seamless integration of civil and tactical flight operations

  • Optional Terrain Awareness Warning System compliant with ARINC Characteristic 758

  • Optional Digital Moving Map System

  • Expansive functional growth capacity via additional circuit card assemblies and/or additional software applications

  • A multitude of COTS options are available due to the use of the open systems standard VME64 backplane architecture.
