A return-to-service tester for the Boeing 737 Flight Management Computer (FMC) is available through Ideal Aerosmith. The cost-effective PC-based tester is programmed to automatically execute the return-to-service test as specified in the applicable GE FMC Component Maintenance Manual.

It can be used by avionics maintenance shops to quickly test FMCs that have been removed from aircraft. A successful test enables the airline to re-certify the FMC as serviceable, thus avoiding ‘no fault found’ service returns and having fewer spare units in the pipeline.
