Land Navigation System (LNS)

A low cost land navigation system derived from our North Finding Module (NFM), with common hardware and flexible software for multiple applications.

The NavPAC, with associated GPS receiver, Distance Measurement Unit (DMU), and Control Display Terminal (CDT), provides precision azimuth determination, both stationary and moving, as in the NFM with the addition of accurate land navigation with and without GPS.

  • Accurate Heading Determination

  • Stationary or Moving Vehicle

  • Autonomous & GPS Blended Land Navigation

  • Horizontal and Vertical Nav

  • Waypoint Navigation

  • Built-in Test

Extended accurate navigation, when GPS is shaded or jammed, is provided for far target designation, along with multiple waypoint navigation capability.

Optimised Kalman filter GPS/Inertial navigation solution or inertial only solution is transparent to the operator. The optional CDT provides operator data input/output capability including position, heading, waypoint, steer-to, target and BIT information.

GE' NavPAC was initially selected to provide the azimuth determination capability for automatic slew-to-cue on the Avenger Air Defense System. The NavPAC also provides Avenger extended autonomous land navigation capability when GPS is not available. The NavPAC has also been selected for:

  • Demo III Experimental Unmanned Vehicles Program

  • US Army Line of Sight Anti-Tank (LOSAT vehicle)

  • USMC Mobile Sniper Location System (MSLS)

  • Giraffe AMB ADS Radar Vehicle

  • Flying Tiger Tracked ADS Vehicle

  • Challenger 2 MBT P-BISA
