North Finding Module (NFM)A low cost heading system specifically developed for the Army for a wide array of military vehicles, the North Finding Module is rapidly gaining acceptance as the "best value" system. The North Finding Module (NFM) with associated GPS receiver, provides precision azimuth determination both stationary and moving.
The NFM can determine vehicle or sensor suite heading accurately with the vehicle stationary and without the use of GPS. The same accurate heading can be provided on-the-move with the integrated GPS. The NFM does not have the limitations of magnetic systems; it has the performance of high accuracy ring laser gyro systems and has the best price/performance ratio available today.

Low Cost Solution
The NFM can determine vehicle or sensor suite heading accurately with the vehicle stationary and without the use of GPS. The same accurate heading can be provided on-the-move with the integrated GPS. The NFM does not have the limitations of magnetic systems; it has the performance of high accuracy ring laser gyro systems and has the best price/performance ratio available today.
The NFM will operate in moving turret or in the hull of the vehicle. Continuous pitch and roll outputs with precision accuracy are available. The system is compact and requires minimal power.
GE NFM has been selected to provide the azimuth determination capability for far target designation for the M1A1D system upgrade. The NFM has also been selected to provide precision azimuth determination for the:
Marine Corps Reconnaissance, Surveillance, Targeting Vehicle (RST-V)
US Army & International Sentinel
USMC M1A1 Firepower Enchancement Program (FEP)
USMC LAV-25 Improved Thermal Sight System (ITSS)
Developmental Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGV's)
NFM performance adds:
Mission Enhancement
Reduced Crew Workload
GPS/Inertial Kalman Filter Solution
Inertial or GPS Backup
