Actuator Control \ Engine Interface Unit (EIU)

GE produces modular and custom servo-control electronics for electro-hydraulic and electro-mechanical actuators for primary and secondary flight control and utility-system management. From simple linear, fixed-gain designs, to sophisticated, completely digital fault-tolerant systems with pulse-width modulated output stages, GE' modular designs may be embedded in the VMC or deployed as independent remote units.

Model 2977A1 Engine Interface Unit: Triple-redundant Engine Interface Units (EIU) perform the following functions:

  • The interface between engine sensors and the primary flight computers (VMCs)

  • The interface between the Digital Electronic Engine Control and the primary flight computers

  • Statically redundant position control of the engine throttle actuator

The intelligent EIUs perform all redundancy management functions for fail-operational service, and the pulse-width modulated outputs that operate brushless DC motors are equalized to moderate the inter-unit control competition.
