Smiths provides an integrated fully framed canopy system equipped with canopy detonation. The canopy or windscreen shell is heat moulded to shape, trimmed and bonded inclusive of terylene laminate edge reinforcings and assembled into a frame. Typically within a canopy, the major machined components include the forward and rear arch, cross beam, side members, lock and hinge fittings.

GE supplies fully framed systems for the Hawk, T45 Goshawk and Harrier I, and transparency shells for the Tornado. In addition it is working with Lockheed on the F-35 programme manufacturing the Canopy Frame for both CTOL and STOVL variants.
